Stephorrine Wedding: Getting Ready

We arrived at La Affinia Dumont Hotel one day before our wedding. We live right outside Manhattan, but we figured it would be a lot easier and less stressful if we spent one night in the city before and after our wedding. The room was a gorgeous Jr. Suite, which would be big enough to accommodate our hair/make-up girl, our photographer, our mothers, and our bridal party of four girls combined. The hotel was also pet-friendly, which worked beautifully because Madison was with us as well. She was the pup of honor after all!

During check-in, things appeared to be going smoothly. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating, plus, everyone adored Madison. I even bonded with the bell boy who was showing me and Cori personal pictures of The NY Jets, which is an American football team that I love and that Cori loves by default. Then, as luck would have it, a traffic cop pulls up to my car and begins writing me a ticket for an expired inspection sticker. The manager of the hotel was arguing with him in our favor, but the cop couldn’t take away the ticket since it was already being processed.  Of course I will admit that I should have been prompt with my car inspection, but Cori and I have been so busy! I informed the cop that I was getting married and began to cry. The cop informed me that he would give me a parking in a bus lane ticket, rather than an expired registration ticket, in which the hotel was able to validate my bus lane ticket since I technically had permission to park in the bus lane to unload my vehicle. Luckily, it worked itself out perfectly!

Once we were settled, Corrine’s best friends and bride’s maid, Yvonne, met us in Manhattan that night. She traveled from Tennessee a few days prior and took the train down to the City from Connecticut, in which we met her at Grand Central Station. Yvonne spent the night with us and we had so much fun girl-talking, eating pizza/Whole Foods, watching TV, playing with Madison, and walking around in the city to do some last minute wedding-related errands. After we went to sleep at approximately midnight, I received a phone call from my best friend and bride’s maid, Andrea, who drove straight from Virginia to NYC right after working at her dental internship. She left Virginia around 6:00pm and arrived to the hotel at approximately 4:00am. Andrea took a shower and passed out until our hair/make-up girl, Jen, as well as our mothers and the other half our bridal party arrived at 8:00am. Our girls were are amazing!

Cori woke up first and arrived back to the hotel with bagels and Starbucks for everyone. Everyone was beyond grateful for caffeine and NYC bagels, which are the best! The girls were up first to get their hair and make-up done, followed by us. Cori and I decided to engage in the "Getting Ready" process together because we thought it would be fun and we were absolutely right! The morning was filled with more girl talk, laughter, snuggling on the bed with amazing sand-filled pillows, and dancing. We did, however, chose to get ready in our dresses separately. We wanted to see each other for the first time in our dresses and have our photographer catch our reactions. To our amazement we did not cry at first sight. We smiled and laughed, feeling completely in awe of each other. We had so much adrenaline flooding our veins that only positive emotions would surface, leaving no room for tears. When did we start to come down from our adrenaline? The moment we began walking down the aisle. As soon as the processional music began to play, there was no stopping our tears  pure happiness and utter amazement.

  1. It's truly very difficult in this active life to listen news on Television, so I only use world wide web for that reason, and take the latest news.
