One Glorious Month

It’s been exactly one month since we've been married!!

Bubbles (Erica Camille)

November has been an amazing month thus far….

Marriage:

We've been married for a whole month! Not to mention, there is nothing more satisfying than being able to write “married” and “wife” on legal documents in a state where marriage equality is recognized. Upon returning to work, we are given the option to check "married" and we decide to put each other on our insurance plans. We also were able to contact human resources and change our payroll forms to reflect our newly married status, which would allow us to file joint state taxes. Such an incredible feeling!

The 2012 Election:

President Barack Obama was reelected for a second term, which means he will serve as the U.S. President for another four years. This is a victory for the LGBTQ community due to the notion that he is the first sitting president to voice his personal support for the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. Additionally, American voters won the freedom to marry in Maine, Maryland, and Washington, as well as blocked an anti-gay amendment in Minnesota.

Winning!

In Wisconsin, Democrat Tammy Baldwin became the first openly gay person ever elected to the U.S. Senate.

Making History

In Arizona, Democrat Krysten Sinema became the first openly bisexual woman ever elected to the U.S. Congress.

New Addition:

Two days after the election, we adopted a 9 month old lab/Australian cattle dog mix from the SPCA of Connecticut. We fell in love with his sweet personality and his adorable ears! Once we filled out the paper work and complete an interview, we were finally able to take our new baby boy home. We named him Gambit Kane. Even more, his birthday falls on February 25, 2012. This is amazing because Rylee Noelle, our previous boxer, passed away on February 25, 2008 and Madison Lily was born on February 26, 2008. Must be fate. <3

Our Fur-Babies

So many victories and much happiness!!

In post-wedding news, it will be another 7 to 10 days until we received our professional wedding photos due to Hurricane Sandy leaving a disaster in the NY/NJ/CT area. Our friends and family, including ourselves are safe and sound. Our photographer is also doing well, but lengthy power outages caused a delay. We kindly ask everyone to keep NY/NJ/CT in their thoughts.

We would like to thank everyone for being patient while waiting for wedding and honeymoon updates. Upon receiving the professional photos, we will post our wedding story and our honeymoon post will be up soon! Things have been insane between going back to work, the hurricane, adopting a new pup, and applying to graduate schools. Not to mention, now that we are officially done with wedding planning, we are ready to start a new chapter in our lives, which may involve new employment opportunities, graduate school, and relocation to another U.S. state.

Oh the possibilities!! xo

Kisses in Costa Rica xo
